Now, where would we be without Velvet Revolver? Velvet Revolver could be seen as the next step from Guns N’ Roses since it consists of three of its members with only a new singer and rhythm guitarist. Those being Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum. I believe that this is something new and in many ways better. Although it lasted less than Guns, It had a healthier environment. Velvet Revolver took months and months to find their new singer. They were so frustrated because they had everything, even finished tracks just waiting to be demoed, but the singer. Thankfully, they found Scott Weiland. A quick FYI, Myles Kennedy was asked to join the band but he refused because he said he was burned out from his current band. Aside from Myles, Scott was the best option for the vocalist. The only bad thing about him was his drug addiction. Velvet Revolver fell apart after about four years because Scott went back to Stone Temple Pilots, his former band. Unfortunately, Scott Richard Weiland passed away in 2015 due to his addiction. Thankfully he will live through his music and always be with us.
Velvet Revolver gave us two great albums. Their debut album Contraband, was a great comeback. It was extremely successful. Its single “Slither,” debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, selling over 250,000 copies in the first week. Contraband went on to sell four million copies worldwide, 2.9 million of which were sold in the United States. Libertad had less success than Contraband but to me it is as amazing.
The song recommendations for Contraband will be the following:
“Superhuman” The best intro riff I can think about for the moment being.
“Slither” I can’t believe it took me a while to love this song. It is so good. The music video is sick as well.
“Fall To Pieces” Sad song amazing riffs.
“Set Me Free”
“Do It For The Kids” WENT TOO FAST I’M OUT OF LUCK AND I DON’T EVEN GIVE A ****!!!
The song recommendations for Libertad will be the following:
“Can’t Get It Out Of My Head” Yes, I know this is a cover but I feel like this version is the best one by far.
“She Builds Quick Machines”
“Gravedancer” This song is so damn good. It has such a good feel about it. Try it
“The Last Fight”
“Get Out The Door” During my research for his vlog, I found out that this song is about a tranny. Now that I know this, I love the lyrics. They have a whole new meaning to me. Bravo.
Same with Snakepit, I knew I was going to love this band. I just needed the time to immerse myself into the music. It’s made of three fifths of Guns, but it is a more developed and disciplined band. Without Axl’s rule, Velvet Revolver was free of tyranny. Velvet Revolver has Slash going crazy with those heavy riffs and mesmerizing solos, while having Duff and Matt keeping everything steady. We are blessed.

It is crazy how their single “Slither” made such an impact on the billboard and the album Contraband had sold four million copies worldwide. It is sad to hear about Scott’s death, but at least his music will continue to live on. Great blog!!!!
